This Week's Bible Bookmark - November 20, 2011

The Bible Bookmark, given to our elementary-age children each week, is meant to be a simple tool with which you can talk about Jesus and the Bible with your children. It typically consists of a Bible passage, a few questions, and a suggestion for prayer. Older children will usually be able to complete it on their own, but we strongly encourage parents to read over their bookmark and talk with them about it. Younger children will likely need help. For younger and older children, the purpose of the bookmark is to bring the child closer to God; a bit more specifically, though, its purpose is to help you lead your child closer to God. We post the current bookmark's content here, in case your children do not have a paper copy from Sunday's class.

Read Matthew 5:9

  • When Jesus lived on earth, people usually did the same job that their fathers did, and were known to act like their fathers in some way. It is sometimes like this in our time too. In what ways are you similar to your dad (or mom)—maybe in things you do or things you like?
  • What do children of God do that makes them like God their Father?
  • Did Jesus act like God his Father in this way? How?
  • Do you know any people who have a hard time getting along? How can you help make peace for them (and be like your Father)?

Thank God our Father for giving Jesus to us, to die for our sins and make peace between us and him. Ask him to help you to be a peacemaker for other people too.
